Bright, tart and woodsy, blood orange essential oil promotes mental clarity, uplifts the mood, helps ward off pesky insects and neutralise unpleasant odours. Known for its jewel-like scarlet flesh, blood orange is stronger in flavour and fragrance than a normal orange, granting its essential oil a much more robust scent than other citrus essential oils. Its citrus fragrance also carries notes of raspberry, giving it a hint of sweetness. Its dark red flesh is rich in anthocyanins, a polyphenol not often seen in citrus fruits which gives it antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties. Blood oranges also have antibacterial and antiseptic properties which may help cleanse your skin of germs and speed up wound healing when applied topically. Inhaling its scent may also help to ease digestive problems and rid your room of mosquitoes and flies.
