4 Ways to Stay Grounded During the Pandemic

by Stefanie | 22 Apr 2021

The world has been in over a year of uncertainty, caution, fear and even panic. There’s no denying how the pandemic has brought out the best and worst in each and every one of us, posing to be both challenging and stressful. We need to accept and acknowledge that although certain things are beyond our control, we can still take charge and make better decisions for our wellbeing. For instance, always remember to incorporate the SOP that has already been set by our government into your daily lives.

Here’re 4 easy ways to stay grounded and take care of yourself and your loved ones during these uncertain times.

1. Take a break.
When you feel overwhelmed, take a break. Turn off your electronics and take a walk for some fresh air, read some books or even take a nap. While it’s important to always stay informed, it’s also important to know that there are loads of misinformation out there. Take a break away from things that give you unnecessary and at times – avoidable stress.

2. Connect with others.
Social media definitely has its ups and downs. Being apart from your loved ones is a true test of using these resources mindfully. Try not to think of the distance keeping you apart but rather, ways to stay connected. Schedule a weekend video call with your family during dinner or have a hangout with friends over a group call. Anything’s possible – extra plus point when you are being socially-distanced.

3. Practice gratitude.
It’s easy to feel like you haven’t done your best or that something could have been done better. Instead, make it a point to observe everything and everyone around you. Know that things happen for a reason and you’re exactly where you need to be. Find the beauty in gratitude and you’ll definitely see a change in your mindset.

4. Make your mental health a priority.
Know that it’s okay to be feeling cluttered with emotions and thoughts during these times. Find what makes you happy and constantly practice it. Remember that your mental health is the most crucial aspect of your life. Stay in the present moment with deep breathing and keeping active. You can even try mediation for that added relaxation.
