Loving Your Child And Your Job

by Stefanie | 14 Apr 2020

Being a mother knows no limits, especially when you are juggling two full-time jobs. You find yourself scrambling for time between breastfeeding your baby to completing that task you were assigned. Everywhere in the world, working women are constantly piling up with domestic responsibilities which can be incredibly draining, both physically and mentally. Though easier said than done, time management truly is the key to a successful career and a happy family.

Here are some useful time management tips for our workaholic supermums.

1. Separate your work and motherhood responsibilities.

A common mistake you might tend to make is to multitask between your work and parenting responsibilities. Sure, multitasking is a great skill to practice however, you should not be dividing your time between 2 completely different job scopes. Always remember to leave your parental responsibilities at home and likewise, leave your work responsibilities in the office. However, in the case you have the privilege to work from home during this time, leave your work responsibilities at your at-home work desk! Remember to be present in the moment, for whichever role you are currently in and you will definitely start appreciating your time more.

2. Let go of guilt.

This is another common mistake that working mothers go through on the daily. You begin dwelling on how you are not spending enough time with your child or how you should have spent more time on your proposal to your boss. Instead of feeling guilty, learn to turn that around and accept that every minute spent is still valuable regardless. Appreciate and find ways to maximise efficiency in both, your work life and motherhood. Understand and focus on your priorities that are in the moment.

3. Bond over personalized family activities.

It is important to always make time for your children, whether it is during the week or during the weekend. This nurtures your family dynamic by allowing everyone to bond. If time is holding you back, worry not as all you really need to do is to plan activities that can seamlessly fit into your work schedule. Always make it a priority to eat breakfast together at the dining table or have a family movie night. Take this time to set your work and electronic devices aside and instead, focus on your child’s interests.
