6 Foods That Might Stain Your Teeth
Who wants stained and discolored teeth? A bright smile can make you more confident and definitely leave a good first impression. Even though teeth darkening may occur as you age, but there are some foods and drinks that you consume daily may stain your teeth.
1. Coffee
Coffee contains tannins (acidic polyphenols) that will lead to staining and discoloration. The acidity of tannins will alter the pH balance of the mouth. It may cause teeth damage occur faster if you consume acidic food afterward. Research suggests that adding milk to your tea reduce its ability to stain your teeth.
2. Acidic Foods
If you notice a yellowish tinge to your teeth, acidic foods such as citrus fruits, tomato and berries may cause them. Even though they are full of nutrients, but these fruits can destroy the enamel (the surface). It will expose the slightly yellow teeth as the beneath are made up of of calcium and phosphate crystal.
