Here's To Women's Empowerment

by Stefanie | 24 Feb 2021

Power For All Womankind is created by our co-founder, John Cheng. It is designed to essentially forge a better and more inclusive world for women. Starting within our community, it is an honour to have 30 phenomenal women from different backgrounds share their stories, in hopes of encouraging and empowering more Malaysian women. Though we are all apart from one another, we hope this virtual campaign unites womankind as one.

Here is a message from John:

“I was raised by a single mother, so I’ve personally witnessed all the struggles she went through. Back in the days, single mothers used to be viewed with stigma. Seeing her go through the toughest of times, I've come to realize just how empowering her journey is. Her story of indomitable dedication has greatly inspired me to take the opportunity in organizing this virtual campaign. It's to celebrate, respect and appreciate women entirely. We need not conform to the social norms but instead, we need to encourage diversity. We’re incredibly honoured to invite 30 inspirational Malaysian women to be a part of this meaningful campaign together with us. Happy International Women’s Day, everyone!”

“Feminism is intersectional. It’s to advocate inclusivity for women, men and everyone in between. A woman’s pursuit of equality means so much more than just having the same social rights as that of men. It’s also about having that perfect balance in society, whether it be in our workplace or within our own family. To have a conscious effort of believing in the innate abilities of a woman. It's to realize and understand that women are in fact capable of achieving anything and everything.”

“In recent years, I would say Billie Eillish. She has such a soulful personality and you can clearly see it being portrayed through her music and lyrics. Her fashion style, which some people may view as straying from the norm, is in fact a true embodiment of who she is as a person. I see her as a rule-breaker because she just doesn't conform to society. She has her own voice.”

“It’s okay to not feel okay all the time. Life has its ups and downs. What you need to do is take a breather and find your breakthrough. Don’t give up so easily because you are the leader of your own life. You set what you want you to achieve so work towards it, no matter what life throws at you. Setting the right mindset plays a huge role in how you view life. Always believe in yourself and strive for happiness in everything you do. Because a star truly shines the brightest in the darkest of times.”
