Simple & Healthy Reunion Dinner Dishes ala Signature Market

by Stefanie | 11 Feb 2021

If you’re spending your Chinese New Year alone this year or you’re looking to make a healthier switch to your feasting, Signature Market is the place for you. Impress your family (or even yourself) with some simple and healthy reunion dinner dishes!

1. Yee Sang
For starters, the Yee Sang is a fun and colourful salad dish which we all love and adore, especially the kids. It’s already quite healthy as it is, as it contains a variety of shredded vegetables and sometimes fruits as well. There’s always an added crunch right at the very top, which is usually some sort of deep-fried noodles or dumpling skin, which isn’t particularly the healthiest!

Our Real Veggie Crisps make an excellent substitute for the crunchies to your Yee Sang as they not only pack a punch (literally) but are also incredibly nutritious. Grab a handful and crush it into your Yee Sang and you’re good to go!

2. Cashew Chicken

Don’t let the name and ingredients list fool you, this is pretty much the simplest and heartiest dish you can make for CNY. Firstly, prepare by sauce by mixing together some low-sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, our All-Natural Apple Cider & Wild Honey Vinegar and some water. Our apple cider vinegar is added with wild honey, which makes it a potent combo that reaps so many healthy benefits for you.

Cook the chicken in the pan first, followed by any vegetables you prefer (we love capsicum), garlic and ginger. Then, add in the sauce and top it off some yummy Roasted Cashew Nuts! Packed with a host of vitamins and minerals, they’re tastier than any supplement you can get out there.

3. Spicy Tofu
Anything tofu is always a good idea as they’re loaded with protein. You can spice up your reunion dinner with this lovely air-fried spicy tofu recipe. Simply cut up your tofu slab into cubes, coat it with some olive oil and air fry according to your own individual air fryer settings. An important tip to ensure your tofu remains nice and firm is to dab it completely dry before frying it. Wrap the tofu slab in a kitchen towel and apply a pressure on it (such as a pot) so any access water drains out well.

Serve your air fried tofu with a spoonful of our Fiery Garlic Chilli for that added kick! Both garlic and chilli contain a bunch of antioxidants and vitamins that boost our immune system.

4. Traditional Herbal Soup
Herbal soups aren’t only nostalgic but are also incredibly nutritious. They contain a variety of Chinese herbs that have been known to enhance your immune system. If you’re unsure which herbs to look out for, we have a variety of pre-packed herbal soups just for you so preparing it would be just as easy as consuming it!

Our personal favourite would be the Immune Resilience Soup 免疫强体汤. It boasts a nourishing combination of 11 traditional Chinese herbs that aim to enhance your immune system’s ability to fight off immunity-related infections and illnesses!
