Healthy Homemade Ice Cream Recipe!

Healthy ice cream has been all the rage lately, for obvious reasons. They’re not only better for your body but taste just as delicious so you won’t even be able to tell the difference. If you’re in Malaysia with limited access to healthier ice cream options, fret not. You can easily make some in the comfort of your own home. The best part is that you’ll even know exactly what goes into your ice cream so you’re in full control of what goes in your body!

Let’s begin!

All you need for this recipe are frozen bananas. Well, at least for the base. You can then create any other ice cream flavour you desire by adding in fruits of your choice. Let’s walk you through the process of our personal favourite, Strawberry Banana Ice Cream!

Ingredients
- Large and very ripe bananas (be sure to choose bananas that are nearly brown as unripe ones will just taste odd and not as sweet)
- Fresh and ripe strawberries

Instructions
1. Prep your fruits by peeling and slicing the bananas as well as pitting and slicing the strawberries.
2. Pop them in the freezer for about 2 hours or until fully frozen.
3. Blend the frozen bananas and strawberries in a high-speed blender or food processor until the mixture is creamy and smooth. It will take you quite a while until you reach the right consistency. Don’t worry, it’s normal!
4. If you like a soft-serve consistency, you can serve it immediately after blending. But if you prefer a harder ice-cream like consistency, you can transfer the mixture into a metal container and freeze for another 4 hours or until it’s totally firm. Do take note that it will be very hard once it’s straight out of the freezer so just let it thaw for a bit before enjoying!
