The Nappuccino Lifehack
Raise up your hand if you're always tired and in dire need of a quick nap. I'm gonna assume the whole of Malaysia raised up their hands just because I'm too tired to count hands, oh how convenient. I don't know bout you guys but sometimes 8 hours of sleep just doesn't cut it, thus leaving us to rely on naps in rides to work, that is if you're taking public transport and know how to estimate your time of arrival onto your stop, I know I'm good at that. We all been there before, skipping lunch just to sneak in a quick nap. Ain't nothing wrong with that, just gotta get pumped up for work. But most times naps just backfires on us leaving us still demotivated to carry on with work.
But what if I told you there's something you could do. Something so mindblowingly simple yet effective. That's right guys, take a sip from a cup of nappuccino! What? Wait, you think I misspelled cappuccino? Well yes and no. The nappuccino you see is the act of taking a short nap immediately after consuming some caffeine so that you are more invigorated when you awake. This works really well because it takes about 20 minutes for a person to feel the effects of caffeine. Definitely quite uncommon to take quick naps while at work in Malaysia but surely you could sneak in some during your lunch break am I right?
It sounds absolutely crazy, but actually mixing a cup of coffee or any source of caffeine with a short nap has been clinically proven to improve alertness and performance more than either will if taken alone.
You might think, given the boost to worker productivity, not to mention improved mood and congeniality, we’d all be taking naps at work. Unfortunately, the powers that be routinely prevent napping, even in jobs where lives are at risk, and continue to ignore the data that sleepiness may be contributing to the tanking of the economy.
4 Steps to getting pumped with the Nappuccino
1. Take a cup of coffee, black tea or espresso. Look for 100mg of caffeine. This won't work with an energy drink as the sleep process get affected by sugar intake.
2. As fast as possible like the Flash, lie down in a nice comfy and quiet location, use an eye mask and earplugs if necessary.
3. Set your phone alarm for 20 minutes, but if you snap awake after only 10 minutes, well that works too, get right back up and continue your day.
4. Rule the seven kingdoms and watch your enemies crumble into a limbo of non-existence...or just go get some work done, whatever rocks your boat.
