by Kar Yan | 15 Dec 2017

Hi everyone! Weekend is here again! Good job on surviving this entire busy week. Are you planning to stay at home, watch movie/drama and binge on junk food?

Lets take a break from indoor and escape from the crowded and busy city to find some peace in the nature together? Inhaling those fresh air 🌳🌼🌲🌻

For this week, I would like to suggest 5 wonderful hiking places with beautiful sunrise and pretty scenery.

1. Broga Hill

Broga Hill is probably one of the easiest and well known hiking spot in Semenyih, Selangor. It is famous for the local species of grass that grows abundantly here. From the peak, you can get a spacious view of the plains, oil palm plantations, villages and towns, along with distant mountains. It’s also a romantic place to enjoy sunrise and sunset with your lovers.

There are three peaks in total. Each of the peaks ascends above the others through a clear path fringed by tall grass at each sides. There is a proper jungle trail that leads through the rainforest to Gunung Tok Wan (675m) from the summit.

Height: 400m
Approximate hiking time: 2-2.5 hours (depending on one's fitness level)
Location: Broga, Semenyih, Malaysia

2. FRIM (Forest Research Institute Malaysia)

Perfect for beginners and first dates (If you don't mind your date to see your sweaty sexy face 😂) It would be the best to hike in the morning as there are lesser people and the air is cooler.

Approximate hiking time: 30 minutes (depending on one's fitness level)
Location: Kepong (Accesible via Selayang-Kepong Highway)

3. Saga Hill/ Apeh Hill

There are many routes and entrances for Saga/Apeh Hill. It is not recommended to hike alone or night hike as you may get lost.

Height: 430m
Approximate hiking time: 3 hours (depending on one's fitness level)
Location: Between Ampang and Cheras.

4. Tabur Hill

It is located at Taman Melawati near Zoo Negara. This hiking trail involves several rock climbs. There are Tabur East and Tabur West. Comparing to Tabur West, Tabur East has more difficult trail as there are less hikers on this trail and the ascent is longer. The difference between these two is the end points. Go check out yourself! 😛

The trails has some rock climbing parts. Therefore, it would be good if you bring your own gloves. Those who are fear of heights, these trails need extra courage. Good luck!

Height: 446m
Approximate hiking time: 2.5-3.5 hours (depending on one's fitness level)
Location: Taman Melawati

5. Mount Nuang

It is located in the borders of Selangor and Pahang. It is only an hour from KL by car. It is probably the hardest hike in KL. This hike may use up whole day. Therefore, it is important to plan your day ahead and meals. There are two entrances which are Hulu Langat and Janda Baik.

According to hikers, the Hulu Langat route is longer and tougher as you need to go through a bamboo forest, several rivers and camping site. As there are several steep hikes and climbs involved, it requires some endurance and perseverance. You will definitely get the great sense of accomplishment. It is a good training for those who are interested or planning to hike Mount Kinabalu.

Height: 1493m
Approximate hiking time: 11-12 hours via Hulu Langat, 7-8 hours via Janda Baik
Location: Border of Selangor and Pahang
